P51 cockpit for sale12/20/2023 ![]() Also, the rudder suffered some hanger rash and the Very tip of where the wing halves meet on the fuselage side I think my cat chewed the 132nd Supply with a little bit, nothing that's not fixable. The engine has a small machined steel adapter bolted to the original prop mount, This could easily be remade with the outer diameter increased to about 3 or 3.5 inches which would give the engine the inertia needed without transmitting it through the huge prop and drive belts. The problem stems from the fact that the DLE-55 has no flywheel to provide inertia to the engine as a direct prop would, The inertia is coming from the 24" 4-blade prop and it is causing the belts to slip in between power strokes. This setup ran excellent on my test stand (included with the plane) except I now had a problem with the drive belts getting too hot and shredding apart, the lower aluminum drive pulley gets extremely hot while running. Could not find another identical engine so i modified the reduction drive yet again to accept the DLE-55. The reduction drive worked good when I had the original "Mustang 50" engine installed in it but unfortunately I had dropped the engine and bent the crankshaft. I have a Purr-power Muffler mount as an alternative engine install. Air tank and all air lines installed for the retracts and gear doors including retractable tail wheel, all controlled with a UP3 Control Valve. All servos installed along with an adjustable servo slow control box for the flaps. ![]() The fuselage has been modified just behind the cockpit, Bulkheads were installed so the fuselage is now a 2-piece, bolt together for easier access to internals. The lower radiator scoop is functional as it directs air up to the engine compartment with dual 1" tubes. I modified the Byron Reduction Drive unit to vertically mount the DLE-55 so it is fully enclosed. I built and painted the plane a few years ago but have never flown it. ![]()
